My Mission

My mission is to assist the homeschooling parent in providing supplemental education in the natural and physical sciences by using experiments and projects that go above-and-beyond the basic K-12 curriculum! Growing up in a family of teachers and tinkerers, I was encouraged to learn creatively & hands-on at a young age by learning quirky math tricks and building projects with my father in our basement workshop. I hope to bring that same engaging learning environment to all my students. Learning is about discovery, asking questions, trial and error, and exercising creativity. I believe that every one of my students can harness their creativity and critical thinking skills with the projects and experiments that I bring to the table!

About Ellen’s STEAM Classes

STEAM classes include elements of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Classes cover subjects in biology, chemistry, physics, ecology, geology, optics, and so much more. The list of projects that we will get our hands and heads into are absolutely endless! Examples include building and testing a wind turbine, creating a robot, growing and observing bacteria, experimenting with color changing chemicals, and designing a hot air balloon. All necessary materials and equipment will be provided. All my classes are adapted for students in grades K-12.
